Estes Park, Colorado

Estes Park, Colorado

The first thing you notice when you turn the around the bend into Estes Park is the sparkle of sunlight on water. Lake Estes is part of the natural framework of the town. The mountain range that make up Rocky Mountain National Park is the other part of the frame.
.
This is a doable day trip from Denver. It's located two hours away, it is a huge stop on the tourist
list. But, as a local, I love going up to Estes Park. On this trip we hung out at the Lake.
Childhood and adult fun. Paddle boating on Lake Estes, a beautiful sunny Colorado day

The view

Part of the Stanley Hotel, made famous by the infamous movie
"The Shining"

I had a friend who was married in this hotel. It was a lovely Scottish wedding, but, I was slightly creeped out by the hotel. It is gorgeous  and you should check it out, just ignore the ghosts.
