Royal Gorge Train Trip and Suspension Bridge-Day trip

A few weeks ago I took a group down to the Royal Gorge. For those of you who have never heard of it, the Royal Gorge is home to the world's highest suspension bridge. The bridge is located about 2 1/2 hours from Denver. We took the Royal Gorge Train that ran along the base of the Gorge. The train is fantastic, comfortable, and also has a saloon inside. The open air cars were located in both the front and back of the train. I would recommend going in late spring early fall, as it was 105 degrees the day that we went, it was way too hot and we were unable to stay outside for too long. Half way through the ride we got off the train and took a ride up the canyon to the Suspension Bridge. The Suspension bridge is home to breathtaking views and is a bit freaky because you can feel it moving. The grounds are a bit run down and obviously has seen better times in the past. As a Coloradan, it does bother me that they haven't done work on the place. The bridge is well maintained and there are a lot activities to do. Eat on the train, or bring a lunch. Do not eat at the Bridge. The food quality is a bit...rough. That said, it's a wonderful day trip if you want to explore a different part of the state.
